Happy Bastille Day !!!!

It is my last one for a little while, but when I come back to France I will be just as french-patriotic as I got over the last 6 years. I will miss the view from my window, where you can see the planes & helicopters flying out 23 seconds after you have seen them on TV....Fete National ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Viva la France!!! And now let's see what South Africa has to offer...They must have a national day,no ?

(2) Master of Desaster

Yes, I know, there has been no entry here for ages, but I have a great excuse: BUSY PACKING!!!! My sister is currently here, and during the days we are hitting the sales buying stuff while at night we are sitting in front of my closet trying to minimize it's content by throwing away similar things like we bought, just older ;-) And this is, how that looks:

Don't cry for me, Germany...

C'est la vie! Germany is out! Arreviderci Berlin! Bye bye Klinsmann! Tschüß Ballack! We lost against the Italians and I can't believe it!!! Still not! Seriously, when it comes to football, I am more a 'no fan'. I do not watch it, I do not always know when it's Offside. I do not know the names & positions of all the players of the German team. BUT: When it comes to the Worldcup, I change...not in terms of names, positions and offside, but at least I watch the games and get TOTALLY PATRIOTIC!!! And then we lost!!! And for the first time in my life two or three tears rolled down my cheeks for football.
C'est la vie! (I said that already, I know!) But good news, tomorrow I am for the French side (My residential country!)
Good that I have two to support...

(Pictures:  (1) where we watched Germany's last game, and (2) typical German fan in Paris teasing the Italians (yeah, if we would have known...)

Johannesburg we're coming !

So so, finally here is the news: We are going to South Africa !!
Mr. J has just signed his contract for a goodygood offer, and basically we are already on our way, cause in 6 weeks (or in other words by August 15th, tic tic tic, panic!) we want to be there with bag & baggage and with all Paris-remains tucked in safely at storage.
Well, you can imagine how our days look now: calling moving & storage companies, speaking with immigration about my visa & work permit, canceling everything which keeps a good household together (and that in my favourite bureaucratic country: France), figuring out what to ship (very little!!!) and what to store (almost everything!!!), drive a car 1200km to Germany to sell it there and see all my family (many people) across the whole country (biiiig country!!!) hosting my sister for 8 days ("Before you leave Paris I want to visit you again.") and and and. I can't even get my mind around all of it yet.
But the big thing is: The adventure has begun and we will live where others go on vacation. Of course it is also a little scary - security-in-Johannesburg-wise. And also a bit sad - leaving-Paris-after-6-years-wise.
But mainly very very EXCITINGLY GOOD! (All-the-rest-wise).

I saved a special bottle - and now we tching glasses to celebrate. More to read on all what's happening in 'The Johannesburg Diaries' soon...

Tuiles de Fromage

Here a quicky to impress guests at the aperitive or just to snack on anytime: Tuiles de fromage

For about 10 pieces you need:
130g finely grated parmesan cheese (must be like powder)
1.5  soupspoons flour
Herbs (dried or fresh, as you like)

Heat a teflon coated pan. I use half of the max temperature, if you do it too hot, your Tuiles get black & bitter. Mix the flour and the parmesan cheese and sprinkle around 1 soupspoon full very finely in the pan. Add some herbs. My favourite is dried oregano. Let the Tuile bake until the cheese is melted and slightly golden, take it out of the pan with an egglifter and let get cold over a bottle (to get the slightly rounded form).
